My Story
I am a clarinet repair technician currently based in Vancouver, BC. I specialize in the fine repair of the orchestral clarinet family.
In my near decade of work, I have serviced instruments for members of a variety of major orchestras and ensembles across the U.S. As the former clarinet specialist for RDG Woodwinds in Los Angeles, I worked on instruments for groups such as the LAPhil, Boston Symphony, San Francisco Symphony, and the International Contemporary Ensemble. I have also serviced instruments for institutions such as the Music Academy of the West, USC Thornton School of Music, the Colburn School, and the New World Symphony.
I started learning repair at just 17 years old while I was pursuing my BM in clarinet performance at New York University. I have been very fortunate in the teachers who have helped me along the way. Melanie Wong was the first person to teach me how to disassemble and assess a clarinet at the Buffet Showroom in NYC, and then I shortly thereafter started my first apprenticeship with Guy Chadash of Chadash Clarinets. I later apprenticed with Kristin Bertrand at her Woodwind Workshop on Long Island, where I stayed until leaving for Paris in January 2020.
I moved to Los Angeles in 2022 to join the incredible repair staff at RDG, where I had the privilege of learning from and working alongside my incredible colleagues Tom Yaeh, John Peterson, and Jennifer Spier, as well as the many amazing professional musicians who walked through our doors. My teachers and clients there made me the technician I am today, and I am so grateful!
I am now currently servicing the clarinets of Metro Vancouver while I pursue my Master’s in performance at the University of British Columbia. I dearly love this city and hope to give back all the kindness I’ve received over the years to the clarinet community here!
