My Story
I am a clarinet repair technician currently based in Vancouver, BC. I specialize in the fine repair of the orchestral clarinet family.
In my near decade of work, I have serviced instruments for members of a variety of major orchestras and ensembles across the U.S. I was formerly the lead clarinet specialist for RDG Woodwinds in Los Angeles, where I worked on instruments for groups such as the LAPhil, Boston Symphony, San Francisco Symphony, New World Symphony and the International Contemporary Ensemble. I also serviced instruments for institutions such as the Music Academy of the West, USC Thornton School of Music, and the Colburn School.
I started learning repair as a teenager in New York City. Melanie Wong was the first person to teach me how to disassemble and assess a clarinet at the Buffet Showroom in Manhattan. I shortly thereafter started my first apprenticeship with Guy Chadash. I then apprenticed with Kristin Bertrand at her Woodwind Workshop on Long Island. I moved to Los Angeles in 2022 to join the incredible repair staff at RDG, where I had the privilege of learning from and working alongside my amazing colleagues Tom Yaeh, John Peterson, and Jennifer Spier.
I am now servicing the clarinets of Metro Vancouver while I pursue my MM in clarinet performance at the University of British Columbia. I dearly love this city and hope to give back all the kindness I’ve received over the years to the clarinet community here!
