ABOUT

I learned the basics of fine woodwind repair through my apprenticeships with Guy Chadash, Kristin Bertrand, and the technicians at RDG Woodwinds. I now specialize in preparing professional-model instruments for orchestral playing.

My approach to repair is informed not only by my apprenticeships with some of the country’s finest technicians but also by my own experience in performance. I received my Bachelor’s of Music in clarinet performance from New York University, and I spent time studying at the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts, Loyola University New Orleans, and the École Normale de Musique de Paris. Most recently, I have performed with the Brooklyn Chamber Orchestra, NEC’s Summer Institute of Contemporary Performance Practice, and the American Youth Symphony.

Although I had been playing clarinet for years prior, it wasn’t until after my move from the Gulf Coast to New York City that I first met a professional clarinet technician and felt the difference a well-maintained clarinet can make on a performance. It turns out that smooth intervals and quiet keys aren’t just the product of good technique! Within a month of starting my performance degree, I also started my first repair apprenticeship, and the two have worked in tandem for me ever since. I now believe a well-maintained instrument is an integral part of a confident performance, and I strive to bring this comfort and reliability to each of my customer’s relationships with their own instruments.

I currently live and work in Southern California. You can find me in the repair room at RDG Woodwinds - come say hi!
